How to Find and Verify Government Schemes Safely in India

Use discovery as the first step
A scheme finder can narrow options using age, occupation and support category, but only the official authority can confirm eligibility.
Verify on official domains
Open the responsible ministry portal, myScheme, India.gov.in or an official state portal. Re-check the application window, exclusions, documents and benefit amount.
Protect sensitive information
Do not share OTPs, UPI PINs, card details, bank passwords or remote-screen access. Aadhaar details should be entered only where the official process requires them.
Watch for misleading agents
Be cautious about guaranteed approval, unofficial processing fees and pressure to act immediately. Keep receipts and application reference numbers from official channels.
Rules change
Schemes can be renamed, extended, closed or revised. A saved screenshot or old article is not enough; verify information again immediately before applying.
